Adding weight to a movement you cannot yet control does not build strength faster; it builds compensation and, eventually, setbacks. Technique is not a beginner phase you graduate from. It is the thing you protect at every level.
Before you load a pattern, you should be able to perform it with a full, controlled range of motion, a stable position, and the same quality on your last rep as your first. If any of those break down, that is your ceiling for today.
A simple rule: if your form changes to complete a rep, the set is over. Stopping one rep early with clean technique is almost always the better long-term choice.
When those boxes are ticked, progress in small steps. A little more load, a couple more reps, a slightly harder variation. Small, controlled progress is the fastest kind that lasts.
